SPIRITISMx 2025 will be held at Holiday Inn Oxford, situated just a few miles from Oxford city centre, minutes from the Cotswold borders and close to picturesque rural villages and attractions such as Blenheim Palace.

🚙 10-15 minutes drive from the M40 (J9 Bicester), and 25-30 minutes from the M4 (J13 Newbury). There is plenty of parking at the venue, and attendees can scan a QR code at the event to register for free parking.

🚂 Oxford Parkway is only a few minutes taxi ride from the venue, and is on the London Marylebone to Oxford route. If you are travelling from London Paddington, or via TFL Elizabeth Line, or travelling from anywhere else, there are connecting trains from Reading, Didcot Parkway, and Oxford.

🚌 Oxford Bus route 300 and Stagecoach route S3 run from Oxford city centre, and both stop very close to the venue.

What to expect

What to expect during SPIRITISMx 2025

We are still finalising the agenda, but here are some basic details.

08:00 – Reception, refreshments, and bookshop

Sign in, grab your badge, and enjoy some free refreshments. Take your time to browse through the books at Amelie’s Bookshop, and catch up with friends.

09:00 – Morning session

Our first group of speakers will talk about amazing women and their positive influence on the Spiritist movement. The morning will conclude with a question and answer session.

12:30 (to be confirmed) – Lunch, selfies, autographs, and bookshop

Network with colleagues while you enjoy your lunch. Use this opportunity to take selfies, get books signed by our speakers, and to browse the selection of books for sale.

14:00 (to be confirmed) – Afternoon session

Our second group of speakers will talk about more amazing women and their lasting legacies. The afternoon will conclude with a question and answer session.

18:30 – Wrap-up

SPIRITISMx 2025 will end with a wrap-up of the talks, plus some special messages, and a prize draw.

Food and refreshments

Food and refreshments during SPIRITISMx 2025

Tea, coffee, water, and snacks are included in the ticket price and will be available throughout the event.

Please note: Only food purchased at Holiday Inn Oxford can be consumed on site.

There are two options for lunch:

On-site restaurant – pre-order at the venue in the morning

The Holiday Inn Oxford has an on-site restaurant and bar. If you would like to eat in the restaurant, you will need to pre-order your meal and pay on arrival to ensure it is ready during our lunch break. View the menu (external link).

The venue can cater for most dietary requirements. Please speak to the restaurant when pre-ordering your meal.

Off-site shops, restaurants, and cafes

If you do not wish to eat at the venue, there are a number of shops, cafes, and restaurants in nearby villages and neighbourhoods such as Kidlington and Summertown. There is also a service station next to the venue with Greggs, Mini Waitrose, KFC, and Kripsy Kreme.

Please remember that any food purchased off site must be consumed away from the venue.

If you would like to stay at or near the venue, we encourage all attendees to book their accommodation as soon as possible.

Altino Mageste 🇬🇧

Special needs teaching assistant. Founder of the Friends of Paul and Stephen Group (GAPE – Grupo Amigos de Paulo e Estevão) and researcher of Paul of Tarsus and Emmanuel.

Altino will be talking about Amalia Domingo Soler (1835-1909), a Spanish poet and writer who was a defender of women’s rights, co‑founder of the Autonomous Society of Women of Barcelona, and author of “Memoirs of Father Germain”.

Anne Sinclair 🇬🇧

Translator and retired health worker. Founding member of the Spiritist Family Group and trustee of Kardec Group. Interpreter for Divaldo Franco.

Anne will be talking about Anna Blackwell (1816-1900), a journalist and translator from England, who wrote about Spiritism in British newspapers and translated books by Allan Kardec into English. 

Dan Assisi 🇺🇸

Business coach, speaker, and author. Executive Director of The Spiritist Institute.

Dan will be talking about the Fox Sisters, Leah (1813-1890), Maggie (1833-1893), and Kate (1837-1892), whose activities in Hydesville, USA, marked the beginning of modern Spiritualism and the Spiritualist movement.

Gilson Guimarães 🇬🇧

Coordinator of Fraternity Without Borders UK, former general coordinator of the UK Citizenship Council, columnist for Brazilian community newspapers and magazines.

Gilson will be talking about Janet Duncan (1928-), a British teacher who emigrated to Brazil, where she studied with Francisco Candido ‘Chico’ Xavier. She was the first person to translate The Gospel According to Spiritism into English.

Humberto Schubert Coelho 🇧🇷

Associate Professor of Modern Philosophy and Metaphysics at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Brazil, a member of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy, a researcher, and an author.

Humberto will be talking about Suely Caldas Schubert (1938-2021), a Brazilian medium and author who was dedicated to promoting Spiritism, and was a founder of the Joanna de Ângelis Spiritist Society in Juiz de Fora, Brazil.

Jussara Korngold 🇺🇸

US Board President of Brazil Child Health/Instituto Dara. Secretary General of the International Spiritist Council, Vice-President of the United States Spiritist Federation, Founder and President of the Spiritist Group of New York and the Spiritist Alliance for Books.

Jussara will be talking about Amélie Boudet (1795-1883), a French teacher and artist, who was the wife of H.L.D. Rivail, a.k.a. Allan Kardec, and who aided in codifying Spiritism.

Marlon Reikdal 🇬🇧

Psychologist, sociologist, teacher, and author. Contributor to studies of the Psychological Series of books by Joanna de Ângelis, and creator of the Vai Pra Dentro (Look Within) series on YouTube.

Marlon will be talking about Clare of Assisi (1194-1253), an Italian follower of Francis of Assisi, who founded the Order of Poor Ladies, also known as the Poor Clares.

Patricia Barbieri 🇬🇧

Digital Production Manager. Coordinator at the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Spiritist Society.

Patricia will be talking about Yvonne do Amaral Pereira (1900-1984), a Brazilian medium and seamstress who produced several books through mediumship, including Memoirs of a Suicide.

Suzana Simões 🇺🇸

Doctor of physical therapy and director of rehabilitation services. Former board member of the Spiritist Federation of Florida. Founder and president of the Conscious Living Spiritist Group in Miami, USA.

Suzana will be talking about Marlene Nobre (1937-2015), a gynaecologist, author, and lecturer from Brazil, who was the founder of the Brazilian Spiritist Medical Association (AME-Brasil), and the International Spiritist Medical Association (AME-Int).

Vanessa Parra Ferreira 🇬🇧

Business consultant strategist for mergers and acquisitions. Spiritist studies facilitator with experience of leading groups in Asia and Europe.

Vanessa will be talking about Hilma af Klint (1862-1944), a Swedish artist, considered to be the first abstract artist, whose mediumship‑inspired paintings were hidden for 20 years after her death.
